AbstractThis brief paper describes a comparison of two different courses, both of which have been approved by the state of Georgia's Professional Standards Commission (PSC). These courses fulfill the PSC requirement that all teachers be competent with technology and know how to integrate technology into teaching and learning by the year 2006. The method of comparison was document analysis. Each of these courses has been approved to by the state as meeting the "Special Technology Requirement," but there are many contrasting elements. A description is given of how each course addresses the common topics taught by the courses and then a rating is assigned for each course on how thoroughly it addresses each topic. After the content analysis of each class was conducted, data from another study reporting the amount of time spent by students in the courses studied was incorporated to add depth to the comparison of the courses.
